Astronaut Tuva Cihangir Atasever visited our directorate. After our director Assoc.Prof.Dr. Şükrü Güleç gave brief information about IRC, the central laboratories were introduced. We thank him for his visit.

Izmir Development Agency (IZKA) officials visited our directorate. Our Director Assoc. Dr. Şükrü Güleç and our former director Prof. Dr. Mehmet Polat gave them information about the improvements made in our centers. We would like to thank IZKA officials for their visit.

Enerjisa Officals visited IRC Directorate. Our director Prof. Mehmet Polat gave information about IRC structure, functioning and the centers within IRC Directorate. Laboratories of the centers were introduced shortly. We thank them for their visit.

Ankara University Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Kaan Orhan visited our directorate. After providing information about the functioning of our directorate and the centers within it, our central laboratories were introduced.

Era Metalurji official Mehmet Cingi, Marmara University Business Faculty faculty member Prof. Dr. Doğan Argun, Ali Mert Haykır, Mustafa Cüneyt Ercan visited our directorate. After a brief information by our assistant director Prof. Dr. Engin Aktaş, the centers within our directorate were visited. We thank them for their visit.

Dr. Gulu Novruzov, Rector of Azerbaijan State University Customs Committee Academy and his delegation visited our directorate. Our director Prof. Dr. Mehmet Polat gave information about IRC operation and the centers within it and then the laboratories in our centers were introduced. We thank them for their visit.

A group of researchers from Baku State University and Ege University visited our directorate. After general information about our directorate and the centers within it was given, our central laboratories were introduced.

Hacı Omer Sabancı A.Ş. Enerjisa Officals visited IRC Directorate. Our director Prof. Mehmet Polat gave information about IRC structure, functioning and the centers within IRC Directorate. Laboratories of the centers were introduced shortly. We thank them for their visit.

Deputy directors of İZSU General Directorate visited the IRC Directorate and central laboratories. Information was given about the IRC Directorate and the devices in the laboratories that back up our centers.

Ministry of Industry and Technology General Director of Industry Prof. İlker Murat Ar and the accompanying delegation visited Integrated Research Centers Directorate. After a brief presentation about IRC Directorate and the research centers within IRC, the research laboratories were introduced to the delagate.

Presedency of the Republic of Türkiye Digital Transformation Office officials visited our directorate. After the information meeting about the Integrated Research Centers Directorate, we ıntroduced the central laboratories. We thank them for their visit.

Urla District Governer and Urla Deputy Mayor Murtaza DAYANÇ visited  IRC Directorate.We gave information about the functioning of our directorate and the centers within it. We introduced our central laboratory and devices.

Arizona State  University Faculty Members Prof. Olcay Unver and Assoc. Dr. Kiril Hristovski visited IRC Directorate. At the introductory meeting held at the Directorate’s office, general information about the functioning of our directorate and  the centers were given. Central laboratories  were introduced.

ŞİŞECAM R&D officials visited our Directorate. We gave information about our directorate and the centers within it. We introduced the central laboratories, infrastructure and operation.

Rector of Hellenic Open University Prof. Ioannis K. KALAVROUZIOTIS visited our directorate. IRC Director  Prof. Mehmet POLAT gave information about the functioning of Integrated Research Centers Directorate and centers. We have made the introduction of the central laboratories.  We thank Prof. KALAVROUZIOTIS for his visit.

The National Mass Spectrometer Application and Research Center (NMSC), which is under the Integrated Research Centers Directorate, organized a seminar about the mass spectrometer systems and the services provided at the center.

Dr. Çağdaş Taşoğlu, Dr. Melike Dinç and Dr. Instructor Member Şerife Ayaz Güner gave the information on these subjects;

“UKSM General Introduction, Mass Spectrometer Systems and Basic Applications”,    “Peptide Sequencing and Protein Identification by Mass Spectrometry”, “Exemplary Proteomics Applications”.

The German Ambassador Jürgen Schulz and his accompanying delegation visited our Integrated Research Centers Directorate. We gave information directorate and centers, and introduced our central laboratories and devices. We thank the Ambossador and his delegation for their visit.

R&D and Innovation  Inc. General Manager Dr. Bilal Guliyev, Special Projecs Senior Leader Dr. Ayhan Ezdeşir, Project Management  Office Manager Hilal Aykaç, Innovation and Market Development Manager Dr. Alp Alparslan, Process Development Manager Dr. Özgün Deliismail and Consultant Dr. Ateş Erk from SOCAR TURKIYE  visited IRC Directorate. We introduced the infrastructure, operation, centers and laboratories of our directorate. We held a meeting between faculty members of our institute, IRC Directorate and SOCAR TURKIYE , where we evaluated possible project studies. We thank them for their visit.

We held an information meeting with the officials of OYAK RENAULT Product Engineering Directorate and R&D Coordinator on the functioning of our Integrated Research Centers Directorate. We introduced the laboratories of some of our centers under our directorate. We thank them for their visit.

Jafarzade Boyukkhanım, Amrahov Nurlan, Israyilova Aygun, who came to  IZTECH from Baku State University for education and research, visited our directorate. IRC Director Prof. Mehmet Polat gave information about IRC and centers.We inroduced the central laboratories. We thank them.

Petrofer Industrial Oils Industry and Trade Inc. the R&D team visited IZTECH IRC Directorate. IZTECH IRC Director Prof. Dr. Mehmet POLAT informed them  about the structure and funtioning of the  Integrated Research Centers Directorate. Opinions were exchanged on possible collaborations between PETROFER and our institute and the centers affiliated to our directorate.We would like to thank PETROFER R&D Team for their kind visit.

ESTONIA Ambassador Annely Kolk, LATVIAN Ambassador  PēterisVaivars, LITHUANIAN  Ambassador  Rıcardas Degutıs,  LITHUANIAN HONORARY Concul Mustafa Ahmet Ozsoy visited our Integrated Research Centers Directorate. We gave information about our directorate and centers, and intoruducwd our central laboratories and devices. We shared important information about the cooperation between the universities can make in the scientific field.

Izmir Institute of Technology’s Integrated Research Center (IRC/ TAM) is a Center of Excellence of TWAS (The World Academy of Science for the advancement of science in developing countries). TWAS supports sustainable prosperity through research, education, policy and diplomacy. Based in Trieste, Italy, TWAS was founded in 1983 by a distinguished group of scientists from the developing world, under the leadership of Abdus Salam, the Pakistani physicist and Nobel laureate. They shared a belief that developing nations, by building strength in science and engineering, could build the knowledge and skill to address such challenges as hunger, disease and poverty. 

As a participating center, IZTECH can thus host researchers from the developing countries and send their faculty to the other centers in the South. Depending on the type of scheme, researchers are given the possibility of visiting a center of excellence from 2 weeks to 12 months. 

If you are interested in hosting a visiting researcher or planning to visit another country as a researcher, I copy below the announcement of its currently open call for the TWAS-UNESCO Associateship Scheme. TWAS-UNESCO Associateship Scheme

In collaboration with UNESCO and a number of centres of excellence in the South, TWAS has instituted a Joint Associateship Scheme to enable competent researchers from the South to visit these centres regularly. An associate is appointed for three years during which he/she can visit a Centre twice for research collaboration. TWAS provides travel support for the associates and a contribution towards subsistence costs up to USD300.00 per month while living expenses are covered by the host centres.

In 1994, in cooperation with UNESCO, TWAS instituted an Associateship Scheme to help counteract the brain drain affecting many developing countries. The programme supports regular visits by researchers from developing countries to centres of excellence in the South. Almost 300 centres of excellence in the South have agreed to participate in the programme. The lists of participating centres are available here (175 in Argentina and 100 in all other developing countries).

Applicants must hold a PhD or equivalent degree. The selection of associates is highly competitive; appointments are made on the basis of merit. Special consideration is given to scientists from isolated institutions in developing countries. Women scientists are especially encouraged to apply.

Appointments have a fixed duration of three years. During this time, the associate is entitled to visit the host centre twice, for a period of 2 to 3 months each time. Subject to the availability of funds, the appointment may be renewed for a further 3-year term.

The Associateship covers the associate’s travel expenses and a monthly contribution of USD300 towards incidental local expenses. The host centre covers accommodation and food, and provides the research facilities.

Submitting application

Applicants must complete the online application form by clicking on the ‘Apply now’ button at the bottom of this page. While filling in the online application, applicants also need to upload the following documentation:

• scanned copy of the applicant’s passport, even if expired (page with applicant’s name and surname);
• supporting Statement from Head of Home Institution;
• the applicant’s curriculum vitae (no more than 4 pages);
• the applicant’s full list of publications;
• PhD certificate;
• two letters of recommendation by two referees, one of whom should be from an expert from another country;
• a recent invitation letter – on the host institution’s letterhead paper – from one of the Institutions listed in the files available here. It should contain the proposed time of the visits (two to three months for each visit) and should refer to the proposed cooperation. It should be made evident that the applicant and the proposed host have been in contact regarding the scientific work to be done during the visit and that the conditions for conducting the work have been agreed in terms of the timing of the visit and the facilities available.

IMPORTANT

Please be advised that applicants may apply for only one programme per calendar year in the TWAS and OWSD portfolio. Applicants will not be eligible to visit another institution in that year under the TWAS Visiting Professor programmes. One exception: the head of an institution who invites an external scholar to share his/her expertise under the TWAS Visiting Professor programmes may still apply for another programme.

The English Version of EAS-e-TAM Testing and Analysis Access and Management System has been completed. The new version allows electronic access to the test and analysis services of the IZTECH Research and Application Centers for English speaking researchers in Turkey or abroad.

The English version can be accessed by language selection option at the bottom right of the Sign-in or main pages of the EAS-e-TAM.

EAS-e-TAM which was created as a joint venture by IZTECH IRC and  IZTECH Technopark Company CMA has been chosen by EGE MATAL as the Laboratory Information Management System for their laboratories.

Dear EAS-e-TAM Users,

We thank you for your understanding in postponing the non-urgent tests and analyzes during the Corona period.

The big repair works of the TAM building (all the façades and the door and window profiles; the reconstruction of the roof; the entire electrical infrastructure, etc.) is expected to start on 20.07.2020 and will last for 3 months. The TAM will have to serve in a very limited way during the repairs.

In order for us to handle your analyses prior to 20 July, please enter your requests through EAS-e-TAM system until 15.06.2020 so that our Centers can plan for the extra workload.
